I just actually finished watching a cute video where David Letterman interviews Justin Bieber. I never used to be a Bieber fan, but I watched his documentary/movie about a month ago, and fell instantly in love with the dude. Does it matter that I'm old enough to be his mother? Achem...well....anyway.
I just loved this video though, because as Justin is talking to Letterman he mistakenly calls the Sistine Chapel the Sixteenth Chapel. Of course Letterman and the crowd goes wild, although Justin has no idea why. I'll post the video here if you want to take a peek. It's very cute.
Ya gotta feel for the kid eh.Years ago my Grandpa told my mom that his friend George had a ruptured vagina......although he meant angina. Yes, it can happen to the best of us!
And lately, as I get deeper and deeper into the world of MLM, I realize that it is indeed that--a whole new world. A world with it's own set of rules, customs, and lingo to match.
And let's face it, you have to have the lingo. It's like saying, "S'up dog?" to Grandpa and then having Grandpa answer back, "Rover's in the barn!" It just doesn't work.
So here is some "lingo" that I've noticed lately.
1) Your Funnel: No, it isn't used to pour sugar into a fancy jar. It is your plan of attack to draw leads into your world, offer them value, and then guide them through the process of buying your product.
2) ABC: Does NOT mean "Always be Cramming it down their throat"....instead it means.."Always be Closing."--which in essence means, always be guiding your prospect through your sales funnel to the process of hopefully purchasing your product or service by building relationships and offering value.
3) A Capture Page: Is not a page designed to capture petty thieves or internet spies. It is your page where you want people to visit to see your irresistable offer.
4) A Squeeze Page: Is not something kinky that your kids shouldn't see. It's a page where you offer a free product or service and get your leads to fill in an "opt in" form to get their goodies.
5) Attraction Marketing: Is not the process of drawing clients to you based on how short your skirt is. Rather it is the process of drawing interested clients to you by offering value and solutions to problems.
6) To Prospect: Does not mean to get a little pan and try and find gold in the Klondike. Instead it means to get out there and meet people to share your opportunity and value with to build your business.
7) Blasting an email: Does not mean making your computer explode. Rather you send a quick but value packed email to your list.
8) Your "list": Is not your grocery list, or your "Honey Do" list. It's your 'interested clients' list who you keep in touch with and offer value to, on a regular basis.
9) MLM does not stand for "More lovely Money": (although I wish it did) It stands for Multi-level Marketing.
10) Magnetic Sponsoring: Is not a program for illegal immigrants. It's the foundation of it all. It's the Bible of Attraction Marketing, and it will get you pointed in the right direction to your success.
So my friends, there are a few key terms that are often thrown out there in MLM land. If you are new and just getting started, and are feeling a tad bit overwhelmed, do not despair.
For one thing, there are hundreds out there like you who are in the same boat, and if you stick with it and work hard, the lingo will become part of your daily vocabulary.
Learn as much as you can, develop daily routines and practice them every day. And before you know it, the feeling of overwhelm will be gradually replaced with confidence.
